INVESTING IN SERIOUS FARMERS

Cordiella is similar in character to La Lima, but grown on the opposite side of Chirinos. This geography gives it a deeper intensity, a creamy body, and a flavor profile full of dried fruits. The community is anchored by Edwin Gomez, a producer known for his technical approach and dedication to advancing coffee cultivation. With support from Churupampa, Cordiella’s farmers are actively investing in regenerative practices and refining quality year after year.

Our lots are sourced primarily from Neftali Santos and his family, complemented by contributions from a number of smaller producers in the region. Churupampa works with those who can consistently meet both the volume and quality requirements—serious farmers who deliver the same profile harvest after harvest. Together, they create a unified product that captures Cordiella’s distinct identity. What makes Cordiella stand out is the reliability of its producers, who not only maintain consistent cup quality year to year, but also continue investing in the technification of their land to improve productivity and ensure long-term sustainability.

NOTABLE

Due to the drought, there was very little yield both in La lima and Cordiella. Churupampa is working with them to create solutions for irrigation. One idea that they have formalized is with issue of fertilization by using fertilized manure for water retention. They work with farmers to have a stronger agroecological landscape. They are aim to do rain water harvesting so they can make use of this water in the dry periods for irrigation. 

PROCESSING

Selective hand picking of cherries, pulping, followed by fermentation. Depending on the altitude of the farm, fermentation lasts between 8-30 hours. Once the mucilage is separated, it is washed with water, spread on drying beds. Depending on the climate, temperature it takes between 8-15 days . After the desired moisture is reached and coffee is fully dried, quality control is performed on these coffees. It is sorted and storied according to the different qualities.
