the challenge

I want to live in the Netherlands for myself and still engage with This Side Up in a way that adds value for TSU to support me in applying for my work visa. Although this work can be done from any part of the world, it is still a choice that working out of Kigali or Yogja or Lima makes more sense than Chennai, India. I feel the same is true for working out of Europe/Netherlands. Everything is made up, why not create something that makes sense for myself in harmony with also needs of TSU to make it worth everyone’s while. Wherever TSU operates, there are opportunities there for everyone if they want to find it.

Goals

  • To show that moving to the Netherlands has what I have been working towards. Personally the Visa will facilitate the long awaited, scary exploration of Self expression - through understanding/having joyous explorations of sexuality and using performing arts as a creative release)

  • To map out my added value by being in Europe for This Side Up beside working on Origin Relationships

  • To explore what kind of geographic accessibility exist through this arrangement that can be fruitful personally, professionally

Total investment for the first year before offset begins

  • Since the IND expects a gross of 5300 and the present gross is about 1300 less, this would be an extra cost for TSU to generate 1300 extra each month as proof that it complies with visa requirements. The offset mechanism that is being envisioned would be buying out shares corresponding to that amount as a way to offset these costs for TSU which could be regenerated again for the following years until everyone ends up earning the same gross, after which this arrangement is not needed anymore. According to Lennart, there will be some notary costs for transferring of the shares which were not considered earlier.

my engagement with tsu - present overview and future

Here is the oversight of the projects I am currently involved and those with the presence in the Netherlands can be interesting to accelerate. These are things I mainly have been working on my own or in close contact with Maarten/Mathieu/Lennart in certain capacity. I do think there can be more synergies when I imagine my skills/talents collaborating with theirs. I feel I have been a reliable employee and steward -ish in the last three years to know I am proposing what I can handle from the overview I currently possess.

(I feel it yet again encompasses being the WIFI of the company well and good, which is the driver of my proposal too!)

 
 

origin relationships

Having been to two out of three of my origins, and established a connection with Myanmar, I feel comfortable to move away from “monitoring/anxious watching” of how things unfold and propose more realistic pathways to maintain the relationships. The ground work for the last three years makes me feel comfortable to offer care and support to another part of the business.

 
 
 

OPERATIONS/sales/account management

  • Access to operations in the last year and half is the segue to my engagement with roasters. Customer relationship/account management - I feel there is a lot to do in this direction beside the computer screen

  • Working in potential campaigns like Brewhmeian rhapsody by working on content collection

  • Account Management : I find this most interesting - offering face time to Roasters - whatever I did in Indonesia, or Rwanda and continue to do digitally is that - friendship. Fostering TSU friendships and providing care in relationship management

 
 
 

SWEAR IT - onboarding

I feel being in Netherlands and planning to work on Swear it onboarding with roasters - transparency as a value/gospel to work closely with roasters in Europe to let such a principle “land”. Similar to cost of production for origins and building a system around it. Since I have no real understanding, having real time quality time works as a starting point.

Content creation - Imagine instead of many messages if we can just go to their roastery shoot things and then get it to design department to do their efforts! Same as Origin trips! If there is an idea, the visa on the passport allows to go the further mile to make it happen!

 
 
 

PROJECTS

I am not sure what is yet possible in this realm but I find it interesting to accelerate projects like Slyvie or Evi Mara - in terms of putting together projects that do something in circularity or doing day trips with such innovators to roasters and be a community outreach manager over there too?

 
 
 

Selecta

Beside the writing of proposal of our side in Tenders with Maarten in various capacity in the last two years, I also feel I can be liason - between TSU/Selecta attending meetings/being part of new tender “announcements” in cooperation with Maarten. I feel I am learning the trade of excel sheets now - which is always how great things start ;)

 
 
 

basic income onboarding

I feel there is a lot of work in this direction too with having face time with roasters keeping the BI on the agenda! Developing a full blown system around it like Swear It or Cost of Production. I feel my role would in exposing the agency roasters already possess and hold their hand in commitment. Like sales/account management, I can take a pool of roasters and work on them first if not all.
I am fairly interested in film making and something lies there with Steven in that regard!

With the new lab that is being envisioned, I feel I can also help with putting together events like producer crossover/simply meet ups etc.. in facilitation, hosting.

 
 
 

practicing cupping/ approving pss - stewardship through and through!

I feel with this new knowledge - this is something would be very valuable to do on a monthly basis to at least have a grip on my coffees.

I feel my “ideal” steward-ing would involve also approving coffees at PSS/LANDED - having the confidence to do so would be fantastic and feels like the natural next step.

what do i feel about the shares/ownership?

I think until recently I was more focused on wanting the visa, I did not really think actively about my feelings regarding the way the extra amount will be offset. As my feelings about it are still developing, I wanted to share other things in the meantime :

I feel strongly that while I get my visa is already the greatest benefit from this process of TSU applying with me/for me, I also feel it challenges/invites TSU to actually open up the doors for such an arrangement - both for present stewards and anyone outside the company. I find it to be “CODE LEVEL : XTREME”, once this is figured out - the opportunities are endless for “Easier” arrangements. I feel i would also not propose something this big of magnitude if there was not something valuable for TSU to also benefit from it and not just take from it! I also feel when I did this exercise now, it overall took 2 hours (1 on each day) to put all of this together with ease. I realized I actually do think this is a great idea not just for vibes but for all the added value from my end to the organism.

I was elated it was all quite “obvious”! It almost feels like I made my 10 year vision board without trying too hard!
