An importer who stands for change.
We use our position to help coffee farmers to be in charge of their own fates. We do this by making the trade process fully visible and by fostering dialogue between everyone in the value chain.
Check out the inspiring local entrepreneurs we work with:
1. No Charity but Equality.
More than ever, we can maintain an open dialogue directly with coffee growers and understand each others’ needs. We don't donate money to charity or certification, but ask our partner growers how they want to develop and help them achieve these goals and become independent. Because our model benefits only those who bring value to the chain, there is more money to go round for those who need it most.
2. Full Chain Visibility.
Go and look in our Coffees section. You won't find more transparency in the value chain than with This Side Up. It's hard to find out what the farmer himself is actually paid by the company or coop you buy from. We either buy directly from the farmer or provide a complete breakdown of the coffee price down to the payment to the farmer - and back it up with proof.
3. Involving Everyone.
This Side Up is in effect an informal network organisation, literally spread all over the world. We bring together baristas, roasters, Q-graders, agronomists, wet-mill managers and farmers. Together, we guide quality upgrading measures and create exciting new coffee products and services. We work like this simply because it creates the most sustainable and rewarding type of farmer development.
This Side Up is a small, dynamic company that relies on cooperation with like-minded organisations to thrive. Here's a list of the folks who work with This Side Up coffees and helped us become who we are today.
